Tide Pools

Hi David! A week ago, we went to Cabrillo National Monument again, this time to check out the tide pools. Tide pools are little pools of water left behind when the tide goes out. You can only see them a certain times of the day.

Here is a tide pool left behind in a rock.

And another one.

The waves are crashing over the rocks.

A wall of rock. When the tide is in, the water comes up to the top of the rock shelves.

An anemone...super cool!

More anemones.

A little hermit crab.

Buelo in a cave.

Snails.

Some type of mussel.

Another anemone.

This anemone is out of the water. I guess they look prettier when they are under the water, right?

How many anemones do you see?

This anemone is filled with sand.

Buelo found a hermit crab that tried to camouflage itself with seaweed.

A faraway look at some tide pools.

The rocks that help create some of the tide pools.

This is a cluster of barnacles.

Count the anemones again!

Buelo hanging out on the rocks.

Another tide pool. Can you spot the anemone?

Cool rock shelves.

Watch these hermit crabs move. They are cool!

Here are some more hermit crabs.

Love you so much Dave! Have a great day!

A Trip to the Zoo

Hi Dave! Buelo and I took a trip to the San Diego Zoo last Saturday. We had a great time seeing all the cool animals up close and personal. So here are some pictures from our adventure.

We started the day with a bus tour of the zoo. We rode on the top of the bus.
We got lots of pictures of an awesome elephant.

And check out all of these giraffes!

I'm not sure exactly what kind of animal this is but it looks like a cute little deer. I got really close to him.

This hippo likes to be underwater. He was huge!

I like this turtle. He had a really loooooooong neck!

A sleepy leopard relaxing on a rock.

This cute meercat was acting as a lookout for danger. He is sitting on top of a termite mound.

Here is a video of a meercat.

And in this video, the other meercat follows.

This Komodo dragon kept staring at us!

This macaw was really noisy!

This polar bear was so cute. He probably had an itch on his back that he needed to scratch.

I loved this otter. He kept swimming around and then standing up on this log.

This bird was so cool and, boy was he colorful! What color is this bird, David?

This big cat is sleeping.

Can you see the meercats in here? They were getting ready to go to sleep.

Here they are up close.

And to wrap it up, here is a video of a tortoise.

Well, I hope you enjoyed seeing the pictures and videos of our trip to the zoo. Buelo and I miss you very much!

Love You!

Ocean Day

Hi Dave! Yesterday Buelo and I went to a beautiful park here in San Diego. It is on a mountain that goes out into the Pacific Ocean. It was really cool!

We first of all went hiking down the mountain. We could see all the buildings in San Diego.

Another cool thing that happened was we got to see lots of helicopters. We think the Navy was doing some training exercises in the area. They were very loud!

At this park on the other side of the mountain, they are a place for whale-watching! I took this picture of a statue of a whale.

This next picture is supposed to be a replica or a copy of a whale's spine. That is the backbone of the whale.

They had some information about whales on display.

And then there was this BIG picture of a whale on the sidewalk!

Buelo and I were having a good time hiking around the mountain. Can you tell it was very windy? Mimi's hair is all messy!

On the other side of the mountain, you could walk on the rocks near the water. Also, on this side, you could see the Pacific Ocean!

This was a natural bridge that the water had carved into the rocks.

Here, Buelo is on top of the bridge!

Here is Buelo in a little cave.

This is an awesome shelf of rock formations.

More rock formations!

This is what the ocean sounds like!

This was more rocks that the ocean had made cool formations in.

Looking out into the Pacific Ocean.

And another picture of the ocean.

Sunset!

Sunset!

Sunset!

So I hope you enjoyed looking at our pictures. Maybe we can see some whales when you visit us in California!

Love You!
